Commissioned by the Harmonie Le Prélude from the École Primaire Saint-Laurent, Gatineau, QC, and dedicated to their conductor, M. Pierre Lainesse, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the band.


Program Notes:

An interesting element of this work is that the two main themes were originally composed by the young students on recorders. The piece was built around those themes and the result is a colorful and contrasting work full of rhythmic and melodic interest. On the last section of the "Celebration", all the players join together to sing a C pedal tone as a warm accompaniment for three soloists.
