In 2013, I was asked to write a piece for a mass band in the Regina Public School division, involving Martin Collegiate and F. W. Johnson Collegiate Area Grade 7 and 8 Bands, and Wild Lions was the result. The group practiced the piece before separately and played it for the first time on March 5, 2014 in the F. W. Johnson Collegiate Auditorium. The two school's mascots were the Lions and the Wild Cats.
