Program Notes:
This is the seventh “junior” concerto written for the senior ensemble at MCI. The title refers to the folk song featured in the composition, entitled “Searching for Plum Blossoms in the Snow”. The musical content of the piece was retrieved from several online videos and resources. Wikipedia traces the composition of the song to composer Huang Tzu (1904-1938). The lyrics to the song are very simple and almost child-like.
