E.K.R. Hammell (Evan/he/him) is a Canadian composer, arranger, & music editor in the pursuit of unstoppable forward momentum. A finalist in the International Young Talented Composers Competition (Spain), and Winner of the Lloyd Carr-Harris Composition prize, Evan's original music and arrangements have been heard across four countries, including the Denis Wick Canadian Wind Orchestra; Canadian Men’s Chorus; provincial & state honour band ensembles of Saskatchewan, Minnesota & Washington; Trinity Laban Symphonic Winds (UK); PEI Symphony Orchestra; Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra; Exultate Chamber Singers; Sirens; That Choir; Luminos Ensemble; Charlottetown Festival Orchestra; Central Bucks West Choir (Pennsylvania); and the University of Toronto Wind Ensemble. Since early 2020, his piece Skyline has been the theme music for The Band Room Podcast, hosted by Dylan Maddix & Cait Nishimura.

As a professional sheet music engraver & score editor Evan has prepared scores for countless performers, conductors, artists and musicians, including the likes of: the artistic director of the largest Bollywood festival in Canada; acclaimed Canadian classical-contemporary composers Larysa Kuzmenko and Imant Raminsh; and leading Canadian music director Bob Foster, including a new edition of the conductor/vocal book for a Guinness World Record-breaking musical (Anne of Green Gables – The Musical).

Originally from Prince Edward Island, Evan is currently based in Toronto, having received a Bachelor of Music Composition from the University of Toronto in 2017. Aside from devising pretentiously abbreviated stage names, his other talents mainly involve drawing, playing bass trombone, and being impressively bad at eye contact.

Evan’s music is currently available through his own website store (E.K.R. Hammell Music), as well as Santa Barbara Music Publishing, SMP Press, J.W. Pepper, and St. John’s Music.
