Laura Pettigrew’s contributions in Canada are well known and appreciated, but her influence and achievements have now expanded all over the world. Her music has received world premières and recorded by GRAMMY® Award–winning, I Solisti Veneti (Italy), GRAMMY® and JUNO® Award-winning Toronto Symphony Orchestra, GRAMMY® and JUNO® Award-winning Vancouver Symphony Orchestra; Regina, Saskatoon and Guelph Symphony Orchestras (Canada), Sérgio Carolino, Yamaha International tuba Artist; and Ensemble Chaminade, among many others.
She has received commissions from soloists and ensembles globally, and was one of forty composers commissioned by Toronto Symphony Orchestra for their Canada Mosaic Project, Canada’s Sesquicentennial celebration. She created the international award-winning short film, The Sky Came Down, and has received additional awards including from Saskatchewan Foundation for the Arts (Regina Artist), Regina Mayor's Arts and Business Award, Living the Arts, University of Regina Crowning Achievement Award, Distinguished Humanitarian and Community Service, and YWCA Women of Distinction Jacqui Schumiatcher Arts Award, and was a nominee for the Lieutenant Governor's Award.
She is an avid supporter of the Adkins Chiti Foundation, Donne in Musica (Women in Music), Associate Composer of the Canadian Music Centre, Member of SOCAN and International Women's Brass Conference, promoting and encouraging composers and musicians to ensure equality prevails for women and men alike.
