Program Notes:

Ancient Stone Circles was inspired by a book on the building of Stonehenge and the other stone circles. Built thousands of years ago, some of the huge stones were carried hundreds of miles – theories abound but no one knows quite how it was done. Using a cinematic approach, this work creates an epic atmosphere of ancient times using modal melodies, rich scoring and exotic percussion. You’ll hear the huge stones being transported, follow a Druid procession, and feel the awe and wonderment of this mystic place.
