Program Notes:
Celestial City opens with a roaring fanfare! This sets the tone of power and strength that should be carried out through the duration of the piece. Although there are many quiet moments, they should still be performed with an air of self-assurance. As a great deal of Celestial City is loud and bombastic it is important that the quiet aspects do no feel weak in comparison. There is also a feeling of unpredictability due to the constant tempo shifts and the changing of time signatures. Some of these changes are gradual, but some are more abrupt. Have fun exaggerating the abrupt changes. Celestial City houses a lot of power, please be responsible!
