Program Notes:

Red sky at night, sailor’s delight.
Red sky in the morning, sailor’s warning.

This is an old adage that dates back to the twelfth century – the idea that a beautiful crimson sky can be both alluring and threatening was the inspiration for this composition. Red Sky started off as a contemporary dance piece and is a descriptive, impressionistic work featuring a wide variety of tonal colours and textures.
