Program Notes:
Synergy is the combined power of a group when they are working with each other – a whole that is greater than the simple sum of its parts. Whether it’s the connection between band members, or the band and the conductor, or the band and the audience, or all of it – it’s that magical something that happens when people create music together. Written as a celebratory piece, Synergy is a rousing overture that explodes with energy and effervescence. My intention with this piece was to create a concert opener full of joy and excitement for all members of the band as well as the audience.
