Program Notes:

To light, to water, and the flow of birds through ancient stars.

This fantastic poetry written by Malca Litovitz, so rich with imagery of the Canadian Winter, provided the inspiration for a composition that embraces word painting.

--

The original version of this composition was written for choir and features the fabulous poetry of Malca Litovitz. Few poems manage to capture the magic of our Canadian winters as this poetry does. The composition strives to convey many of the images that are presented in the poetry by the use of word-painting. Audiences may benefit from hearing the poetry and listening for "the flow of birds" and the "majestic silence".
